Permissions
This page explains why Waqt asks for platform permissions and what those permissions are used for.
1. Why Waqt asks for permissions
Waqt asks for permissions only to support prayer times, reminders, prayer-window protection, app selection, app shields, check-ins, and transparent family accountability.
2. Location
Location is used to calculate accurate prayer times for the user's area. Users should verify the selected location and calculation method when accuracy is important.
3. Notifications
Notifications are used for adhan alerts, prayer reminders, wudu reminders, prayer-window warnings, check-ins, and recovery prompts.
4. Android Accessibility
Android Accessibility permission is used only to detect whether a selected blocked app is open during an active prayer window.
It is not used to read messages, passwords, typed text, or screen content.
5. Android overlay / draw over apps
Overlay permission may be used to show Waqt's prayer blocking screen over selected apps during an active prayer window.
6. Android exact alarms
Exact alarms may be used to start prayer reminders and blocking windows at accurate prayer times, especially when the app is not open.
7. iOS Screen Time, FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings
On iOS, these permissions and frameworks may be used for app selection, shields, device activity schedules, and prayer-window protection.
8. Family mode
Family Mode lets an organiser invite child members and manage child blocking settings where appropriate consent or authority exists. Children should see what is shared before joining. Adult members stay self-managed.
9. What Waqt never collects
